The third GLOBEC OSM culminated the integration and synthesis activities of the international GLOBEC programme by providing a new mechanistic understanding of the functioning of the marine ecosystem, in order to develop predictive capabilities and propose a framework for the management of marine ecosystems in the era of global change.
The conference conprised workshops, plenary and poster sessions, with the first two days devoted to topical workshops proposed by the GLOBEC community. Three days of plenary sessions followed along the themes:
- GLOBEC achievements
- Ecosystem structure, function and forcing
- Ecosystem monitoring and prediction
- Ecosystem management and human dimensions
- Marine ecosystem science: into the future
